Roger Taylor of Duran Duran definitely has a cherry ice-cream smile in this shot, don’t you agree?  My “second banana” of the group just turned 53 yesterday and celebrated by DJ’ing a gig in Chicago.

In honor of RT’s birthday, today’s Sounds Of Saturday is a live clip of “Rio” recorded during the Red Carpet Massacre tour.  The clip opens with Roger and happens to show him quite a few times throughout the performance which is nice since even with the closest of concert seats, this cute guy is always back behind the drums.

“Rio” isn’t one of my favorite Duran songs (you can throw stones now) and in this video Simon’s voice doesn’t hit it’s stride until later in the song but this video is unqiue because you get to see close-up shots of Nick’s make-up, Simon’s Chuck Taylor shoes and both Anna Ross and Simon Willescroft (sax player) get some time in the spotlight.  JT and Dom fans, this clip will not satisfy you because there are very few shots of your guys.

In case you didn’t know, Durandemonium 2013, the Duran Duran fan convention taking place in Chicago Oct 18-20th is also offering a special promotion price until April 30th in honor of Roger’s birthday!  If you want to go, now is the time to buy your ticket here!

Hope you enjoy and I’ll see you Monday!
