Cheers to 25 Years!

25 years.  A quarter of a century – that’s how long I’ve been with this special guy.

We have been together through college, long distances, a break-up, growing up, a child, a dog, a cross country move and so much more.

I’m so very grateful to have such a loving, funny, smart and supportive partner on this crazy road of life.  To have someone by your side who is not your blood but sticks by you no matter what is something rare.  I’m luckier than I ever expected I would be in this life.

For all of February’s faults for pushing […]

It’s A Fab February Giveaway

I’m not sure what the deal was in January but it seemed like the universe was pretty pissed off. A New Year usually begins with hope, motivation and a sense of positivity but 2016 did not start off that way.

In the hopes that the month that represents love overload (and my birthday month) can help put things on a more positive spin for the year, I’ve decided it’s time for a special kind of giveaway.

5 Tips For Teaching Your First Yoga Class

Last night I taught my first 60 minute yoga class.  After just finishing Yoga Teacher Training a little less than 2 months ago and knowing only one sequence fully, I was a little nervous.  However, when the local Athleta store asks you to teach, you get yourself ready and teach!

Just because you finish yoga teacher training doesn’t mean that you’re fully comfortable to actually do the teaching.  However, if you’re a new fitness or yoga instructor, you’re likely more ready than you think.

In order to help you feel a bit more confident about sharing the passion for […]

A New Yorker's Thoughts on Living In Los Angeles

I’m a New Yorker living in Los Angeles.  I’ve lived in LA for over 3.5 years and I still haven’t adjusted. At nearly every opportunity I can be heard saying, “I’m a transplanted New Yorker” or that “I’m still learning the geography of Los Angeles” when I meet someone new.  In my attempt to be more mindful in 2016, I’ve come to realize that the repeated mentioning about feeling like an alien living in Los Angeles has likely reached 11 on the obnoxious scale.  I’m still not sure how (or if) I’m going to cure the problem.

Share Your 5 Beautiful Moments

Yesterday, my fellow Duranie and author extraordinaire, Karen Booth (also featured on this blog here), nominated me on Facebook to share 5 photos where I felt beautiful.

I was honored to be nominated but also horrified that I would have to search through photos of myself, deem them beautiful and then share them publicly.

These were my #5BeautifulMoments:

5BeautifulMoments,

Top Row: 1) Jay and I in 1991 (who knew that 9 years later we’d be married?) and 2) Me with Wild Boy at 6 months old (it was one […]

7 Songs To Soothe Your Soul

It’s been a bad couple of weeks in the music world.  Between Scott Weiland, Lemmy Kilmister, David Bowie and now Glenn Frey, I know I’m not alone in feeling a deeper connection to wanting to hear comforting music.  I’m mindful (my Guiding Word of 2016) that music has always made me feel connected to my soul in a way that nothing else can.

Last week I had to create a 30 minute yoga flow sequence and accompanying playlist.  While putting the playlist together, I […]
