I know it’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted and I planned to write a post explaining why but that will need to be done at a later time. Tonight, Duran Duran kick off their Paper Gods Tour and although I won’t be in New York to witness it, I figure it would be a good idea to publish my wish list for some of my favorite (some lesser known) songs that I wish would be added to the set list.
I know people want to hear the hits but I, for one, would be happy to see any of the following added on this tour:
American Science
Anyone Out There
Astronaut
Before The Rain
Careless Memories
Come Up and See Me (Make Me Smile)
Faster Than Light
Friends of Mine
Hold Back The Rain (my favorite)
(I’m Looking For) Cracks in the Pavement
I Don’t Want Your Love
I Take The Dice
Is There Something I Should Know?
Khanada
Last Chance on the Stairway
Late Bar
Like An Angel
Lonely In Your Nightmare
Love Voodoo
Meet El Presidente
My Own Way
New Moon on Monday
New Religion
Nice
Night Boat
None of The Above
Notorious (another favorite)
Of Crime and Passion
Runway Runaway
Secret Oktober
Serious
The Seventh Stranger
Shadows On Your Side
Skin Trade
Sound of Thunder
(Reach Up For The) Sunrise
Taste The Summer
Too Bad, You’re So Beautiful
Too Much Information
Union of the Snake
The Valley (yes, I liked RCM)
Vertigo (Do The Demolition)
What Happens Tomorrow
I know there are staples that I didn’t include but I’ve heard them more than a few times. It would be awesome to get an entire show of “B-sides” (for lack of a better word) – one can dream, right?
Wishing all my Duranie friends who are going to see the band before I do, a most fabulous time!
What song do you think I should have included (I’m certain I’ve forgotten more than one)?
Love your list Melissa….
I would like to add:
Faith in this Colour
Tel Aviv
Tiger Tiger
Finest Hour
Faster Than Light
Silva Halo
Midnight Sun
Box Full O’ Honey
Falling Down
( I liked RCM too ). ?
as much as was an 80’s fan I think personally astronaut is my fav album.
Reach up
Taste the summer
Bedroom toys…
But also…. Classics
Girls on film
Hungry like the wolf
Reflex
Thrown in for good measure….
I think they should do a four hour long concert 😀
Violence of Summer! But yeah, the boys need to switch it up a bit…
Brian: I know people do like that song but I’ll admit that it isn’t one of my personal favorites. I do love that the band has such a vast catalog that people could likely curate multiple concerts without repeating a song. I wish the band would do a concert of albums. I know I’d pay more to see the older stuff played in its entirety n
Tel Aviv, Tiger Tiger, BFOH and Falling Down for sure. FTL is definitely on that list too.
Astronaut was a fantastic album! I love nearly every song on it and went to quite a few shows for that tour. It shows just how good these guys can be!
Would live to hear The Valkey as well (remember the techno set from that tour?? Would love to hear THAT again!) I think I’ve got nothing to add to this list–everything I might want to hear is in it. I think. Hard to think in the spot . . . ?
That electro set was unbelievable and I know that there is a very deep part of me that wants something just as magical to be showcased on this tour. These guys have such a vast catalog and are such great musicians that I’d love to see more of the “unsung” come out to play.
Putting it out there, I’d pay top dollar (even more than I already have) to see them do albums (DD, 7ATRT, Rio and Astronaut for example) in their entirety. A full album show would kill! I’d also pay to see a show of fan picked favorites (even if the set list were charity auctioned or something).
I could go on and on but overall, I’m thrilled that my favorite band keeps making music and touring. I can’t wait for Sept and Oct!!!!
You just crack me up!!!! I can’t hear a Duran Duran song without thinking of you! 🙂
I love that!
