Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday!
Today’s Tune is Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy’s “Kiss Me”. Stephen was the original lead singer for Duran Duran before Simon Le Bon joined. I have to say that I’m glad that he left and made way for SLB.
I always loved this song and just looking at Stephen, you can see how young he was. Because I always like to do a little research before posting about an artist, I had no idea that Stephen did work with Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies – they collaborated on the songs “Jane”, “Alcohol” and “Call and Answer”. Stephen has also done work with Robbie Williams (an artist who definitely wound up being more than a boy-bander).
Today, however, we go back to the 80’s with “Kiss Me” – I love the refrain, “Kiss me with your mouth; Your love is better than wine; But wine is all I have; Will your love ever be mine?”. Enjoy!
I remember him and I remember this song! Precisely for the reason you state – that he was the original lead for DD! we would have been mad friends in middle school and high school – swapping cassette tapes and all.
I can already see the flashbacks of 2 silly girls doing some serious damage with some Wet n’ Wild pink lipstick, Stiff Stuff in their hair and squealing over videos on MTV…..I smile at the thought of our virtual flashback.
