Tuesday Tune Up, Weekly Check In, Food, Fitness, Family, Duran Duran

Hey there!  How are you?  What’s been going on?

The Tuesday Tune-Up is where we can have a weekly virtual coffee date and catch up a bit.

If you haven’t heard the news, I finally had a dream fulfilled by meeting Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran last week at the David Lynch Foundation benefit show.  If you missed the details, you can see the photos via my Instagram feed or read the post with details all about the meet-up right here!

Food, Tuesday Tune-Up

Healthy eating didn’t happen very much this past week.  Hangovers (both Le Bon and alcohol induced) are always eased by a good burrito, right?  LA, you rock in the burrito department!

Jay was nice enough to get me this beauty the night after the David Lynch event.  It’s easy to see why I didn’t eat again until dinner that day:

Passover started last week and to usher in the week of no leavened bread, we had some delicious Matzo Brei (matzo with eggs) with Bananas and Pecans recipe from The Kitchn (Jay made it minus the pecans).

Matzo Brei,

To round out the holiday, we made and brought over an Easter quiche of smoked salmon, cream cheese and asparagus that was really egg-ceptionally yummy!

Ah, the news I promised last week but got sidetracked from that Duran Duran floaty feeling (and entertaining a youngster who was on Spring Break)….I’m doing my first Triathlon – The Wanderlust 108 – Mindful Triathlon on May 2nd in Santa Monica!

Wanderlust 108 is the world’s kindest triathlon – offering a 5K, followed by a 90 minute yoga class and ending with lecture/meditation.  I may not be able to run that 5K but I’m still very excited to get myself back into a fitness atmosphere that serves mind, body and soul.

Meditation is definitely gaining a ton of positive press in the health and wellness space lately (see these two bloggers for intro to meditation posts to learn more: Kimberly@ManifestYourself and Christine@LoveLifeSurf) I loved learning what kind of results that the David Lynch Foundation has brought to those suffering from trauma and I thought that this would be a wonderful introduction to trying out the practice myself.

To register for Wanderlust 108 Los Angeles on May 2nd, click here (this is not a referral link, I repeat this is not a referral link).  Let me know if you’ll be there, I’d love to meet up!

Family

There was a lot of family time this past week since it was Spring Break.  We didn’t go anywhere special but instead spent some time together.  We went to a Passover Seder with family in Santa Monica and spent Easter dinner with some neighbors.

We’re gearing up for visit from my in-laws next week and preparing for Wild Boy’s 8th birthday!  It’s going to be a busy but wonderful few weeks!

Seriously?  You do not need to hear me gush about my SLB meet again, right?  But let me at least share a stage photo that I took:

Needless to say, I’m still riding very high on that cloud and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.  Is it awful to say that I’d love the opportunity to do it again soon?  Rumor has it that a single will be released in May and the album will drop in September.

Until then, we wait but I can share a small clip of  the David Lynch Foundation Benefit performance of “Ordinary World” that I shot right here: OrdinaryWorldDLF (it’s Wild Boy’s favorite song and will open up in a separate window).

In other music news, I just bought tickets to see the very strange triple bill of Barenaked Ladies, Colin Hay and Violent Femmes at the Greek Theatre on July 21st.

I’m a huge fan of BNL (with Steven Page) and Colin Hay (whom I’ve seen many times) so even if we leave after I hear some BNL, CH and 1 or 2 VF songs, I’m good.  I bought discount tickets to the show on Goldstar*, a consolidation discount ticket service (*link is a referral link but I earn no money or anything redeemable if you choose to sign up for this free service).

I think next week I need to summarize what concerts I’m attending this summer.  There are quite a few but don’t worry, it’s not detracting from the Duran Duran fund!

So that’s a summary of what’s been going on in my world this week.

Are you going to any concerts this spring or summer?

*******

Disclosure:  I did receive a complimentary entry to Wanderlust 108 but only because I reached out to them.  I was very interested in attending this event and since I planned on registering for and writing about this unique mind and body fitness event that I figured, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  All opinions expressed are absolutely my own.
