People love the show Portlandia and even though I still don’t “get” the show (please save your tomatoes for eating), I do know that Portland, Oregon has been called the Brooklyn of the West so it makes me unbelievably excited to announce that I’ve been invited to Portland from June 27 – 30th to attend my first Fitness Blogging Conference, FitBloggin’ 13!

As a newbie blogger but a long time lover of food and fitness, I can’t wait to get to Portland!  I’m looking forward to meeting other bloggers who are “interested in fitness, wellness, good food and a healthy lifestyle no matter where they are on their journey.   Two days of education, networking, friendship and fun.”  Located in what is known as the West Coast version of the home in my heart, Brooklyn, NY.  Sounds perfect.

My goals for the conference are to learn more about:

  • Fitness: like trying some new adventures like Pyrolates (will it be like WundaBar Pilates?), a trampoline class with JumpSport Fitness and maybe CrossFit WOD – Workout Of the Day with Reebok (it scares me to death).
  • Blogging: through workshops and small discussion groups I hope to be inspired to write great content and learn how to get that content out and around.
  • Fitness Blogging Friends: These are my peeps and I’m hoping to make some new friends, officially meet some of my blogging “idols”/tweeps.  I’m also excited to meet my roommate, Jill Griffiths of TreeFitness.com.
  • Food: Portland (aka PDX) has been called one of the most exciting food towns in the country.  I’m a foodie at heart and I’m hoping on this rare solo trip to a culinary hot spot, I want to experience the “breakfast scene”.  I LOVE breakfast at any time.

I’m especially thrilled that I was chosen to be a Live Blogger for a discussion group on Friday that is close to my heartDiet Is A 4 Letter Word: What Are Your Food Rules? led by Nicole Truog of Apples and Arteries and Lyn Trier of Life Lyn Style

This conference is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to share what I learn about fitness, blogging, friends and food!

If you have a “don’t miss” restaurant or bar to recommend in Portland, please let me know!
