The title is about as Christmas-y as I’m going to get.  Today was my “mix and a-mingle” day with the Pasadena Social Media Group, a gathering of people utilizing social media in many different ways.  This group, along with the SoCal Lady Bloggers, have helped me feel welcome in a new arena and in my new city.

Before meeting either of the above mentioned groups, this picture only would have appeared as a full wine glass to me:

Social Media statement or Full Glass of Wine?

Let’s be honest, it still sort of looks like a full glass of wine to me but at least I feel I have a slight toe-hold in the pool of social media.

I’ve found Twitter, Facebook and the Blog world an amazing group of people who you may not know in real-life (if you’re lucky, you do get to meet these “virtual” friends) but you feel like you do.

Facebook has connected me with very old friends and has helped me make a few new friends.   Twitter helped me feel connected to communities (NYC, LA, Duran Duran, runners, fitness enthusiasts, foodies, dietitians, parents, etc.) that make me part of who I am.  I also was embraced by the blog world before I became an official member.  Now, I’ve made some friends here and when I finally get the courage to let people know I actually write here, I hope to gain more.

I’ve enjoyed getting more involved in social media and I look forward to the SMCLASMBLA Holiday Party in 2 weeks if not just to mix and a-mingle some more.

2013 is looking more and more social overall and I can’t wait!
