Las Vegas, parenting

Maybe? Image by: M. Shirinsokhan

I think my family might be the reason travel insurance was invented.  Wild Boy has only been alive a few years but he’s managed to put a monkey wrench in just about every travel plan we’ve ever made as a family since his arrival – vomiting and fever 3 hours into a 24 hour car trip, flu that delayed a cross country trip , a wicked fever and infection after a stay at Disney World that had us delay our trip home twice and now this weekend, when we have been planning a trip to Las Vegas (complete with a complimentary room at the Wynn and a friend’s daughter as our mother’s helper for evening childcare so the adults can enjoy Vegas properly), Wild Boy has had an ear infection since Monday and has developed a nasty cough (aka what every kid in his class has had or will have soon).

Let’s be clear, I realize that children get sick (a lot) but I swear that this kid has impeccable timing.  It’s frustrating but I’m certain that every parent on the planet can relate.  You can never make a firm plan when you have a child.  Things really do change on a dime.  It doesn’t make me happy (I’m a planner) but I’m attempting to adapt (although not always so graciously – sorry Jay).

There’s a chance I will be on a plane tomorrow (our doctor cleared Wild Boy to fly) but who knows? I’ve been lucky once already this month with my Kindle Fire win at the #HATES event.  Maybe I’ve reached my limit.  Check out Sounds of Saturday tomorrow and find out if I made to Vegas or not.
