Getting Nourished at FitBloggin'

Ever feel hungover from a vacation?  After a two week trip which included a long stay in Chicago with friends and the FitBloggin’ 2014 Conference in Savannah, Georgia, I was happy to get home.  Being away for so long can sometimes be depressing but when I sat down […]

The Making of a Runner – Live Ultimate Run Los Angeles 5K

I’m not a born athlete.  It takes a TON of motivation to get me to be active and despite how long I’ve been running, we still have a love/hate relationship.  My child (aka Wild Boy) is nothing like me and craves athletic activity – it’s good to be fearless and seven years old.

When Live Ultimate Run Los Angeles offered me two registrations for their 5K race over Memorial Day Weekend, Wild Boy said he wanted to run his first 5K with me.  As a parent and an advocate for healthy living, I was thrilled that physical activity was important to my son at such an early age.  I didn’t do my first 5K until I was in my late twenties.  I still have trouble calling myself a runner but today, in celebration of #NationalRunningDay,  I’m sharing what it was like to watch a child (my child!) become a runner.

Announcement – I'm Running The 2014 LiveUltimate Run Los Angeles

Disclosure:  This post in sponsored by the Live Ultimate RUN series.  All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Ever since my Ragnar, it’s been a bit difficult for me to get back into running.

Ragnar Relay

Even after the Boston Marathon last week, I’ve been slacking in the motivation and the execution department.

However, after watching my 7 year old win the relay race for his first grade team in the local All City Track Meet (after winning the Jog-A-Thon with the equivalent of a 10K in 60 minutes),

my running mojo was reignited and I’m proud to announce….

that both Wild Boy and I are being sponsored to run

the 2014 LiveUltimate RUN Los Angeles on Sunday, May 25th!

Getting JambaFit!

Hi there, I’m back!

The blog was unexpectedly quiet for a few days last week.

There’s a lot going on in my world right now but I’ll do my best not to go into shut down mode again.

So let me tell you about one of my latest adventures…

Jamba Juice, Blend in the Good, JambaFit

Last week I was invited to the 4th Annual Jamba Juice #JambaFit FiTrends Expo Event at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica.  It was a great day of nutrition, education and fitness with some bloggy friends and fitness legends.

Yes, that is THE Venus Williams AND “Body By Jake” on the schedule!

For me, it’s always a joy to actually get a chance to meet other bloggers IRL.  I was happy to get this photo with Katy@JoyLaughterSweatMonica@RunEatRepeat, my #dirrtydozen Ragnar teammate, Gillian@That’sG, and a Friday’s Featured Female, Tiffany@RunningHutch before the busy day began.

The 6 Things You Need To Do A Ragnar Relay

The So Cal Ragnar Relay is done and I know that I’ve shared just about everything I could about this race before it actually took place – from my intended music playlist, introducing all of my team members AND (if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter), you might have seen a few zillion pictures of gorgeous California scenery, many gorgeous sweaty runners and many obnoxious pictures of the So Cal Ragnar Medal but guess what?  I’m not done yet.

The Ragnar Relay is a very special breed of running experience.  My teammate Gillian coined Ragnar the “Coachella For Runners” and she’s absolutely right.  When the topic came up at FitBloggin’ last year, I said yes but I was scared to death (I do have 4 half marathon DNS’s in the last 4 years due to injury) but after this fantastic experience, I’m already thinking about Ragnar #2.  I think every runner should think about doing a relay race so that’s why I’ve come up with:

Fridays Featured FemaleS – The Dirrty Dozen Ragnar Team

Welcome to Friday’s Featured FemaleS!

Friday's Featured Female, #FFF

This week’s feature doesn’t just highlight one woman but it highlights a #DirrtyDozen of them.  Today I want to give a huge shout out the members of my So Cal Ragnar Team (technically, I’m not highlighting myself but 11 sounded ridiculous).

Get to know these 11 amazing women that will be covering 200 miles with me (from Huntington Beach to San Diego).  Not all of these ladies are bloggers (and many aren’t even active in social media) but they are all amazing women and athletes.  The list below is in runner order with their leg mileages and terrain difficulty noted: […]
