Make A Plan And Guess What Happens
Today’s post doesn’t quite align with my Workout Wednesday plans. I’ve been trying to work my To-Do List before I leave to NYC this Friday but I was forced to take a rest day because I got sick. I tried to fight it but the sneezes kept coming, my eyes were rheumy (I love how descriptive that word is) and knew I was going down for the count when a kid said to me, “Melissa, your face is all red.” So my post and my plan for yesterday went to hell.

Today is the anniversary of the death of my stepmother who died when I was 17. Only recently was I reminded of the exact date of her death. I have an excellent memory for many things but I’m certain I’ve blocked out many details of that time in my life.
My stepmother and I didn’t always get along but I know that she loved me. It is […]
Awkward Confession: I Cry After I Run
I never thought that crying was a side effect of running. It likely isn’t for most people but for me, the weird thing that I’d need to include on my number “things-you-don’t-know-about-me” lists that are crawling all over Facebook right not would have to be – I cry after running. The first time it happened, I chalked it up to crazy hormones but it’s been happening a lot more often lately. The more and the often being the operative words that prompted this post.
Friday's Featured Female – Brittany Bendall of MyOwnBalance.com
Welcome to another Friday’s Featured Female!
Today I have the pleasure of having the very lovely Brittany@MyOwnBalance.com here today. Brittany is a soul sister in her love of fitness, food and listening to her inner voice. The more I learn about this girl, the more she surprises me (she lived in Australia at one time – lucky girl!). I also didn’t pay her to say nice things about me but she did anyway – so…..have you met, Brittany? Yes, I ripped that line from “How I Met Your Mother”
LL Cool Gear: 4 L-Named Women's Activewear Companies
Ladies activewear is on fire right now – it’s not only becoming more functional, fashionable and newsworthy as of late (see this write up by PopSugar Fitness). If you’re a geek like me, maybe you’ve noticed this odd trend – there are 4 women’s activewear companies that all have names that start with the letter “L”: Lululemon, Lucy Activewear, Lole and Lorna Jane.
Since I have a fascination with the strange, and I love to feature 80’s icons to exemplify alliteration, here’s a little […]
Tunes For Tuesday – Being Thankful with The Hours
Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday – Being Thankful Edition – Week 2!
Image: Rustiqueart
This week’s Tunes For Tuesday is “Ali In The Jungle” by The Hours. This is a song that features the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity. This song is an inspirational one for me not only when I run but just in general – it ends with the line, “The thing they said was impossible, he’s done!”
I like this live version of […]
