Keeping with the 5 Mini Motivation Strategies To Maintain The Mojo (which I’m humbled and proud to say was recently featured in the Daily Burn weekly round-up),  I’ve found that feeding the fitness A.D.D. is making working out fun and more consistent.

There’s not a lot that can get most people to think about braving Los Angeles traffic but an invitation from Lucy Activewear to a special edition Summer Tune Up Poolside Pilates class with celebrity Pilates/Fitness Trainer Kit Rich at the W Los Angeles last week, was just the change of scenery I needed to make a Saturday workout worthwhile.

3 reasons to be motivated before the workout even began:

  • The discovery that there is no LA traffic on Saturday morning at 8am!  Freeways in LA are known to have the potential to make even the most mild mannered of people turn into foul mouthed lunatics!
Road Rage

Because sometimes I am that person with road rage in LA because I can’t get to my exercise class….but not this time!  Image: Cupofzup.com

  • A fitness class becomes less of an obligation and more of a luxury to be enjoyed when your “classroom” looks like this:

  • A gift bag that includes activewear (with a coupon for a future discount) and delicious food can always make a girl happy:

With all that goodness, it’s great to report that the Yoga/Pilates fusion class with Kit Rich didn’t disappoint.  Kit comes off as sweet but she’s killer.  I never thought that mat Pilates moves and chair poses would have such an effect on my core, quads and hamstrings!  I reached the shaky muscle apex and the drippy sweat realm about half way into the hour long class.

When class was over, I had to approach the woman in front of me because she had a fabulous grey bag.  Lucky for me, the woman in front of me was attending class with the bag’s designer, Sheila Viers of Live Well 360.   The bag (called the Luxx) was sleek looking and had quite a few unique features that I’d never seen before.  I’m by no means a fashionista but I couldn’t get over my attraction to this bag.  I’m not shy so I asked if I could take a picture of my intended next gift for myself (my half birthday is coming up).

Lucy is an activewear brand that has been on my radar for awhile.  I featured the brand in my L-themed activewear post but never got around to checking them out.  A short while ago I was sent a sample of Lucy’s Hatha Capri Leggings (that were supposed to accompany me to FitBloggin’ but didn’t make it into the bag) so I decided to wear them to the Tune Up.  The pants were very comfortable, had great moisture wicking ability and weren’t too long on my petite body.  It didn’t hurt to be Lucy twins with Kit Rich either.

As soon as I got home after the event, I tried on the Perfect Pose tank top I received in my gift bag and I’m thrilled to say that I can’t wait to wear it at IDEAWorld Fitness BlogFest, next week!  When you’re well endowed, it’s hard to find tank tops.  So many tank tops are racerback and show all.the.brastraps but the Perfect Pose doesn’t.  I may need to buy myself a few more of these tanks.  I love that Lucy calls the removable bra inserts (found in some of their tank tops)  “cupcakes”.  This brand really knows women!  They even have a running bra called The Girls Best Friend Bra that I may need to check out in the future.

If you’re in the LA area, you can check out the W Los Angeles Saturday Summer Tune Up Poolside classes every Saturday until Labor Day.  See the Lucy website to learn more about the out the multitude of fashionable fitness clothes choices available.  If you’re at #BlogFest next week, come and find me.  I might be wearing the above tank top.

Disclaimer:  I was invited to this event, received a gift bag and was sent a sample of Lucy clothing.  However, I was under no obligation to write about my experiences with the brand or the event.  All opinions are most definitely my own.
