Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday!
Vampire Weekend might be one of the more contemporary bands that I’ve come to fall in love with. I knew about this band long before I listened to them on a regular basis. The lead singer, Ezra Koenig used to be a tutor to the daughter of one my favorite former work colleagues. I remember my colleague playing Vampire Weekend’s music to me (we talked about music a lot because her husband is a musician and Wild Boy was obsessed with the guitar at the time) and thinking it was a bit weird but interesting.
When I heard the song, “Horchata” I fell in love. Horchata is one of my favorite drinks of all time and the lyrics just made me smile (it didn’t hurt that they included a reference to Aranciata – another drink that I love). Now, I think this band is one of the best bands that has hit the scene in recent years and I was sad to have missed them on both coasts this summer.
I liked this underground clip that I found of Vampire Weekend performing “Horchata” in a basement. I hope that this poppy December tune helps make you feel a little warmer and makes you smile like it makes me smile.
Enjoy!
Are you thumbs up or thumbs down on Vampire Weekend?
Wow. I must be old. I’ve never heard of them. I will have to check out this YouTube clip at home.
Kris: This band is awesome. They are one of the few contemporary bands I’m proud to have fallen in love with. Hope you enjoy.
Thumbs up for them! We have a modern rock station down here that plays them all the time. Thank goodness for great radio – and pandora!
“Horchata” is seasonally appropriate but I can’t stop singing “Unbelievers” right now. The new album is pretty amazing.
