Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday – The 70’s Edition for July!
Welcome to Week 3 of celebrating the Sounds of the 1970’s. It’s July, the seventh month of the year so it’s all 70’s for all of July.
Today’s tune is Elvis Costello’s “What’s So Funny Bout Peace Love and Understanding”. I can’t believe that this album was released in 1978. I listened to a lot of Elvis Costello in the 80’s and 90’s but I still haven’t seen him live. I know he’s performing at the Hollywood Bowl in September but I’m not sure it’s in the budget (I have a few concerts on tap this summer).
I hope you enjoy this tune as much as I do.
PS – I just recently saw “E.T.” and realized that the big brother, Mike, was signing Elvis Costello’s “Accidents Will Happen” during the film.
What’s your favorite Elvis Costello tune?
My freshman college roommate was a huge Elvis Costello fan. I learned to enjoy him too. Good stuff!
I heard of a few Elvis Costello songs that I liked. I didn’t realize that was from the ’70s. Yikes!
So flippin’ good. He’s playing with Ben Folds in September at the Hollywood Bowl. I’m dying to go but my concert budget is pretty tapped out right now.
Yup, Elvis Costello got started in the 70’s (but so did Duran Duran BTW – 1978). Time flies but luckily music makes us stay young forever.
I am old! 🙂
OMG the very first concert I ever went to was Bonnie Raitt and Elvis Costello. I had zero clue who he was but he was fantastic! The next day my boyfriend and I bought his CD. That was in 1990!!! Crazy.
I also can’t believe that about E.T.? Now I have to go watch it…
No you’re not and damn girl, you look good!
That’s a good first concert! Mine was The Go-Go’s with INXS opening. I love Elvis and sometimes forget about him. It was good to get a reminder recently of how awesome he really is!
