Happy December and Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday!
Did you know that yesterday was my 1 Year Blogiversary? As 2013 winds down, there won’t be a specific theme to December’s Tunes For Tuesday picks – they’ll just all be songs that inspire a little positivity and happiness to help make the end of the year and the beginning of a new year an easier transition.
Today’s pick is “Beautiful World” by Colin Hay. If Colin’s name sounds familiar but you just can’t place it, he was the lead singer for the 80’s band “Men At Work”. He’s been solo for a number of years and his solo songs are quite amazing.

Colin Hay is one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. It isn’t just that his singing voice is pristine, his music beautiful and he has fabulous sense of humor but he also has one of the most filthy mouths on the planet. If you ever get the chance to see Colin on tour, you will not be sorry I assure you.
If you’re a Zach Braff and Scrubs fan like I am, you might have heard “Beautiful World” before. Zach Braff definitely resurrected Colin’s career by including his music on the “Garden State” soundtrack. This song is simple but shows the beauty and appreciation of the every day. It’s a celebration of the little things in life. It’s a song that makes me smile from the inside out. Colin Hay has the uncanny ability to pierce your heart in a way that no other musician can. I hope you enjoy today’s Tunes For Tuesday pick:
Do you know Colin Hay?
I love this pick! I had no clue he was the lead singer for Men At Work!? I love the song choice and, I’m not surprised to learn you’re a Zach Braff and Scrubs fan 🙂
Glad you like the song. It’s definitely one of my favorites and ZB is on the list of faux celebrity boyfriends (behind Simon Le Bon of course).
I love the Garden State Soundtrack! I remember buying that CD the day after I saw the movie. My fave songs are “In the Waiting Line”, the 2 songs from The Shins & of course the Colin Hays song.
It’s a great soundtrack and Zach Braff is brilliant. Colin Hay plays the LA area often (he lives here) and I highly recommend seeing him if you can. I’ll lyk the next time I hear he’s in town.
