Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday!
Today’s Tunes For Tuesday is the incredible Alison Moyet. If you listen to any 80’s music you’ll know Alison Moyet as the voice of synth pop duo Yaz or Yazoo and the albums Upstairs At Eric’s and You and Me Both.
Alison went solo in 1984 and released what I consider to be a perfect album called Alf. Today’s video is from Alison Moyet’s most recent tour (which I missed and I’m still kicking myself). Alison looks very different now than she did in the 80’s and per her Wikipedia page, she has been very open about her struggles with weight, bipolar disorder and agoraphobia.
I don’t give a care what this woman looks like as long as I can hear her voice. I played this album ad nauseum in college and post college. I heard this song recently and realized that I haven’t yet featured this powerhouse so today’s the day! Enjoy!
What album(s) do you consider perfect from start to finish?
Girl – you crush this every week. LOVE Allison Moyet – but you knew that, right???? She made need her own Pandora station come to think of it!
Knowing that my strange musical taste connects with someone else always makes me smile. Alison definitely deserves her own Pandora station! I bet it would bring Annie Lennox and Adele and some other great torch song singers. LMK.
Upstairs at Eric’s is one of the best albums EVER.
Alison Moyet has one of the best voices ever and many people forget that.
