Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (90’s Edition)!

Here’s my #confessyourunpopular opinion concerning the 1990’s – I didn’t (and still don’t) like Nirvana (hold your produce, please).  Grunge rock was definitely the thing in the ’90’s and Kurt Cobain was the definitely the man leading the charge.  I was sad when he committed suicide but I wasn’t unhappy that his band’s music was over (although not ’90’s related, I do like the Foo Fighters).  However, I was most definitely a Pearl Jam fan!

I played “10” and “Vs” to death quite a bit in the ’90’s and in 1994 I was lucky enough to work on the “Daltrey Sings Townshend” Carnegie Hall show where Eddie Vedder appeared (he’s a huge Townshend fan).  Eddie was definitely an ultra weird guy during those early years of fame (right before the show his manager let my boss know that Eddie was unavailable because he spending some time living in his car at the time).  Even though I didn’t get to meet him, I did get to see him perform at Carnegie Hall from the 2nd row and it was magical!

Picking one Pearl Jam song to highlight today was tough.  It was between “Rearview Mirror”, “Alive” and a few others but once I found this 1994 SNL rehearsal clip of “Daughter”, this was the one.  I know Pearl Jam are so much more now than they were in 1994 but this is how I remember them and likely always will.  Scroll past the intro stuff and start the video at :40 in and enjoy!
