Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (90’s Edition)!

Do you like a little heavy guitar with your ’90’s pop sound?  Do you like anime movies?  If so, today’s clip is definitely for you!

The 1991 release of Matthew Sweet’s album “Girlfriend” was a musical revelation for me.  Honestly, I have no idea how I heard about the album but this is another album that I played over and over.  Some people call this music “power pop” – I don’t care what it’s called but I like it.

How I missed the fact that Matthew Sweet has been on tour this summer and fall playing the entire “Girlfriend” album is beyond me?  I’m upset to realize that I missed him in LA and will miss him in NYC by a week!  Damn!  I’ve never seen him and I bet he’s fabulous live.

I’m showcasing the title song “Girlfriend” today (even though there are at least 3-5 other gems on this album).  If you’re a runner, this is a great song to add to your playlist!  It’s worth it to wait and skip the ad and watch this one – enjoy!

Tell me, do you know Matthew Sweet?  Did you know that he’s released three albums of cover songs with Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles (the last album was just released in August and is full of 80’s songs – I may need to get this pronto)?
