Welcome to the musical portion of thevalentineRD.com.  This series used to be Sounds of Saturday but it seems that people might be busy doing other things on Saturdays and they just don’t have the time to read blogs (or watch videos) so we’ve moved our music to Tuesdays!

Since July is the 7th month of the year, we are going to celebrate Tunes For Tuesday with music of the 1970’s for the 5 Tuesdays of July!

To kick off Tunes For Tuesday, we feature a very young Michael Jackson from 1979 with “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”.

This song has special meaning – it’s a the best mondegreen I’ve ever heard (and it’s from my husband Jay).  A mondegreen is the act of mishearing or misinterpreting song lyrics due to sounding like other words and giving the phrase new meaning.  A popular example is Phoebe Buffay on “Friends” thinking the lyrics of “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John were “Hold Me Closer Tony Danza”.

Jay’s mondegreen for this song is “Tito.  At The Bus Stop” instead of “Keep On With The Force (Don’t Stop)” which has caused hilarity to ensue many, many times.  I’ve heard this song a few times in exercise classes lately and couldn’t stop myself from cracking up.  This song will never have a Star Wars reference to me.  It will always be “Tito.  At The Bus Stop.”  What about you?

What’s your favorite mondegreen?
