Of all the things New York City is known for, food is definitely at the top of most people’s lists. It’s true that the bagels, the pizza and even the water is exceptional in New York City. Food is a draw for me anywhere and especially now that I live in LA. It was fabulous to finally have a food experience only available in New York at the Chobani Soho store.
I eat a Pear or Honey Chobani Yogurt nearly every day for breakfast and the fact that the company has a healthy respect for dietitians (which I learned at the Chobani event for Los Angeles Dietitians back in March) is pretty fantastic. Chobani only has one actual store and I definitely wanted to get there!
Chobani Soho, on the corner of West Broadway and Prince Street, has been open since 2012. This is not the typical outpost for packaged products (but some are available), you come to Chobani Soho to taste yogurt with healthy, fresh artisanal mix-ins.
- Easy and Fun Choices include: Fig & Walnut, Fresh Fruit & Granola, Toasted Coconut & Pineapple, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Pistachio & Chocolate and Blueberry & Power (with Chia and Hemp seeds).
- Adventurous Choices include: Cucumber & Olive Oil and Mango & Avocado.
I love Mango & Avocado but the Pistachio & Chocolate called my name. My order was taken by an exceptionally nice cashier, who keyed in my order via phone to the visible chefs in the back. The store was modern and sleek without feeling stark.
I’m a sucker for packaging so I loved that my order was presented to me with a mesh cover, rubber band and in a glass bowl like this:
I’ll let you know that it took a lot for me to actually take this picture because I wanted to dig in immediately because it looked like this after unwrapping:
The fresh plain yogurt brought out the dark chocolate, pistachio, fresh oranges and mint. My unique dessert was adequately sized, delicious, healthy and felt like a mini spa trip. I couldn’t believe that when I finished that the cashier gave me a parting gift – he asked me if I’d like a clean glass bowl to take home. Everyone gets a glass bowl to take home if they choose!
For $4 a half portion and $5.50 for a full portion, Chobani Soho is a must (for local or tourist). What a great way to eat, fresh healthy food and feel like you are treating yourself well!
FYI – I was not compensated or influenced to write this post. I have no affiliation with Chobani except for being a happy consumer. All opinions and photos are my own.
Let me know – Have you been to Chobani Soho? If so, what’s your favorite flavor? If not, what is your favorite healthy treat?
Oh I love Chobani SoHo! The mango and avocado is delicious!! I have not yet tried the pistachio and chocolate yet but I want to!
That is awesome!!!! The closet (and it’s not very close) thing we have to that is PinkBerry which is premium fro yo with fresh toppings – yum. This is definitely a whole yogurt experience. Only in NY!
I remember Christine Yu blogging about Chobani Soho last year – it looks so yum. I do my own version of this at home – but their mix ins are much better!
I’m bad. Christine is my friend and I had no idea she already did a blog post about it. Bad me. It was great to visit though and I was super impressed. The ingredients are simple but I’m too lazy to treat myself that well.
It was so good!
I may need to try the mango avocado before I leave.
So awesome that you went there =) I heard about it last March at the Expo… and wanted to see what it was like… they need to expand those!
They absolutely do – I can imagine the California produce combinations that they could come up with.
