You may have noticed there was no post on Friday.  It was Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) on Thursday and Friday and I didn’t get a post written in time to publish.  Perhaps getting myself organized should be one of the second group “New Year’s Resolutions” I get to make now?

Rosh Hashanah, someecards

I’ll be checking in on my #13in2013 goals at the end of this month but since it’s a New Year, I guess now is a good time to announce some new stuff so here goes:

I’m an official FiTMAPPED FitRep!

Fitmapped LA

FiTMAPPED is the GPS for fitness in New York City and Los Angeles.  This company was founded by an RD and a lawyer (I find that RD’s and lawyers make excellent partners – I’ve been with mine for 20+ years)!  FiTMAPPED wants to know where (and what you think about the places) you sweat my NYC and LA friends!

If you love (or hate) a place, put your words to work and review either on their website, mobile app or Facebook app.  If you can’t find the place you want to review, let me know and I’ll let the FM peeps do their thing!  I’m excited to be working with like-minded fitness experience seekers on both coasts!  Many thanks to my friend Brittany @MyOwnBalance for the introduction!

I’m going to the FitSocial Conference!

FitSocial Conference

The 2013 Fitness and Health Social Media Conference is being held in Denver and Boulder, CO from Sept 26-29 and focuses on exploring the communication of cutting-edge health and fitness information via blogging and social media.  This conference not only has fitness classes, educational sessions, a tour of the new $70 million dollar Anschutz Health & Wellness Center and a keynote speech by Ashley Koff (an RD) but I get to it all with my roommate from FitBloggin’, Jill @TreeFitness.

You’ll definitely be hearing more about this conference since as part of my discounted registration fee of $95, I’m obligated to write 2 posts about the conference.  I’m pretty sure that there will be more than enough juicy fitness and health information to share – although I hope most of it won’t be how difficult it might be to adjust to the altitude!

I did something crazy – I signed up for the 2014 SoCal Ragnar Relay!

Since my back didn’t want to cooperate for a #13in2013, the Jewish New Year inspired me to do something radical so I signed up to do a 200 mile relay race from Huntington Beach to San Diego with 11 other amazing females!  I’m freaking out a bit and hoping that my back won’t punk out on me.  There will be a lot more to come about this big run experience (it isn’t until April 2014) and there’s training to do, gear to buy and fuel/refuel combinations to test.  The team is still being assembled but I can’t wait to tell you about my fantastic teammates – I’m humbled by these amazing athletes!

Disclaimer:  I have paid my own registration fee and have not been compensated in any way to promote this relay race.

Those are just 3 of the big things that are coming up.  There are a few things that have already happened that I need to chronicle too –  like the spin class I did for the children’s cancer charity Pablove Foundation (I’m taking it easy so I don’t injure my back again) and AbbaFest at the Hollywood Bowl (courtesy of a blog giveaway that I won from the very sweet Jamie @MinnesotaGirlintheWorld) among other things.

Perhaps you saw some of my photos on Instagram?  Are we Instafriends yet?  Sit tight my friends there’s a lot to share here on the blog and on Instagram (my newest social media obsession)!

Happy New Year to those that celebrate and to those that don’t – you’re lucky because you don’t have to fast this Saturday (Yom Kippur)!

Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions this year (or for Rosh Hashanah)?  Did you keep ’em?
