I planned on being able to tell you all of the details about the very amazing Evolution Fitness Now Conference and TheFitExpo that I attended on Saturday but instead it’s going to have to wait because I went to THE GRAMMY AWARDS last night!
If we’re friends on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, this isn’t news to you at all. I might have blown up the internet a little bit with my posts (and gave spoilers to the West Coast – sorry). I thought it was a great show and I was thrilled to have attended this amazing event due to an angelic friend who gifted these tickets to me (and my lovely friend Josie – since Jay couldn’t attend).
For me, the highlights of the evening included:
- LL Cool J making fun of the fact that people may have forgotten that he started in music
- Being in the same room with Beyonce and Jay-Z (and hearing him acknowledge the love for his wife and saying that he’d tell Blue that he got her a “gold sippy cup”)
- Getting the chance to hear the amazing Lorde in person (mind blowing)
- Realizing that I’m so old that I hadn’t ever heard of Hunter Hayes or Kendrick Lamar
- Hearing Chicago but missing Peter Cetera
- Seeing Robin Thicke sing “Blurred Lines” without Miley Cyrus
- Watching and hearing P!nk make an entrance – that girl can sang
- Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar’s fantastic performance
- The disappointment of realizing that Paul and Ringo didn’t get together organically, they were promoting their song in the new Julia Roberts movie “August: Osage County”
- Bruno Mars bringing back the Duckie look from “Pretty In Pink” with his bolo tie.
- The amazing voice of Willie Nelson. Willie is 80 and Kris Kristofferson is 70 – holy crap!
- Nile Rodgers with Daft Punk, Pharrell and Stevie Wonder (why didn’t Daft Punk take off the damned helmets?!)
- The respect for the singer-songwriter with a performance by Sara Bareilles with Carole King.
- Jared Leto. I don’t care if he’s greasy, I adore him.
- Being surprised by the Metallica and Long Long performance
- “One Love” Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with the Madonna entrance and the 33 couples – it would have been great if Queen Latifah came out on the telecast too but that isn’t my business so….
- Miranda Lambert and Billie Joe Armstrong performing together
- Realizing that the little guy with Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk and Nile Rodgers was the prolific Paul Williams (Rainbow Connection, The Love Boat and many other songs of my youth).
It was also fabulous to see 2 colleagues that I hadn’t seen in many years (and not having that time span reflected in their faces) and getting the chance to meet my blogger friend Xenia@RaisedByCulture and chatting with Carolyn@ThisTalkAintCheap.
It was a once in a lifetime experience and I couldn’t be more appreciative. Thanks again to my angel friends for helping me “Get Lucky”.
Did you watch The Grammy’s last night? What did you think? What has been your favorite Grammy performance of all time?
I had my book club meeting, so I missed most of it! 🙁 But I will be online today watching the performances on YouTube.
Last night was mind blowing – Queen Latifah wasn’t on the telecast? BOO! 🙁
You are the cutest and I’m so happy we met!
HOly moly! I can’t believe you actually got to go! That is crazy amazing! The helmets are super annoying! It’s like I want to see their faces so bad just because I can’t see them! Haha. You must have had the most incredible night! 🙂
Loved your recap – it was cool to see what went over well live. I love Beyoncé’s performance, and am so glad “Get Lucky” got Record of the Year after being overshadowed by Blurred Lines for much of the summer.
And Hunter Hayes’ isn’t worth knowing but Kendrick Lamar is, in my opinion! haha
Would love to hear what you thought of the performances. Your girl opened the show you know.
So glad to have met you too! They didn’t show Queen Latifah?! Bizarre. Only wish the Queen would have made a declaration.
It was pretty incredible for sure. I didn’t care that the celebs looked like ants, I still knew which ants they were.
Glad someone can keep this old girl up to speed (now if we can work that into my running, I’d be set).
Thank you so much for this amazing recap! I did not stay up b/c I’m beyond tired these days!! I actually fell asleep in front of a beautiful fire around 8:30. So sad. I also have to say that I haven’t a clue who Hunter Hayes or Kendrick Lamar are!? Loved ALL your pics too!
Great recap! My favorite performance of the night was “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk, Pharrell Nile Rodgers AND Stevie Wonder! I’m a huge Stevie fan & loved how he added his own flavor to the song.
Sounds like an amazing experience. This was the year to be there because in my opinion, it was the best Grammys in years. So many greats in one room.
Linda: It was pretty damned fabulous. I was just disappointed to realize that the famed “Beatles” reunion was just a promotion for an upcoming movie. All in all though, it was wonderful!
Wow super cool! I totally forgot and went to bed early! #lame
That is so amazing that you got to go the Grammys. Very jealous!
Sarah: I’ll admit that this might have been one of the recent Grammy awards that I actually knew who most of the nominees were. It was also good that the people I was seated next to were considerably older and I had to tell them who the performers were.
It was absolutely amazing!
Yeah, me too. At first I wondered why in the heck Julia Roberts was introducing them. Everything has to be a promotion for something else. Doesn’t it feel sometimes like entertainment is just one big infomercial? But what an amazing memory for you – being at the Grammys!
It looked like such a fun night – I loved seeing all of your pictures.
Linda: I’m going to have to sadly agree with you on the point that everything seems to be commercialized in entertainment. Personally, I was ill at DisneyWorld due to the blatant promotion of every single ABC program everywhere. Overall though, it was an amazing evening and I’m not complaining.
It was amazing and I still can’t believe that I got to attend.
