The World Is A Rainbow
While on my quest not to dwell in the horror of being a parent in the post Sandy Hook world, I was moved to tears during Wild Boy’s school performance of the following song, “The World Is A Rainbow” by Greg and Steve. I never learned this song when I was a kid and to see those 1st graders all dressed in the colors of the rainbow singing the following words, I lost it.

Bicoastal Mammogram – LA, Part 2
To get a phone call from these people, the Monday after Thanksgiving saying you need additional images (after a mammogram the previous Wednesday) is a bit unnerving.

Bicoastal Mammogram – New York, Part 1
I said it yesterday that I’m really no good with transitions. I have no future in triathlons so I am just writing. Sandy Hook stays in my human heart and the blog’s heart (with the green and white pegs of the heart logo) but as life dictates even in the most terrible of times, we must move on.
In keeping with the fact that I’m both bad with transitions and in denial that I’m no longer a full-time New York resident, I waited until I went back to New York for my annual mammogram. I’m 42 years old and have had only 1 mammogram. I have no idea why I waited until I was 41 to have my first mammogram considering my stepmother died when I was 17 years old of what was believed to have been breast cancer (it had spread to her spine and all over her body when doctors found it during surgery) but I did.

It really is.

Transitioning
After the Sandy Hook incident on Friday and the #BlogHeartOut yesterday, it’s difficult to transition back to writing about what (in some ways) feels so self-indulgent.
I’m still due to write about the health journey I mentioned last week in addition to my experience yesterday with acupuncture but something within me just can’t do it.
I have to learn to do it though. Transitioning is always difficult for me but it’s called for in so many different facets of the way we all live right now.
It’s what’s required. I keep hearing […]
BlogHeartOut Day for Sandy Hook
Today, I am participating in Social Media Silence Day/#BlogHeartOut via Xenia at raisedbyculture.com.
Take some time and remember these innocent victims today and forever more somewhere in your heart.

Back Again
After the Sandy Hook incident on Friday, it’s been difficult to write about anything else other than being thankful and/or sad. Earlier this week I had planned on writing about a recent health journey but that will again be delayed until later this week because I now have something more pressing….my (lower back) injury is back again.

Some of the reason for my recurring back injury – besides arthritis. Image by neckandback
I have been in a cycle of back injury and attaining fitness for a number of years. I’ve had to pull out of 3 half marathons in as many years and I was on a self-directed program to get myself strong once and for all. Hence my #13in2013 declaration earlier this week.
