Sounds of Saturday – The Avett Brothers (I And Love And You)
While I often feature 80’s music on my Sounds of Saturday, The Avett Brothers are (somewhat) contemporary. I discovered this amazing group via my Tweep, Gerard P., who writes an amazing Tumblr site called The Music of Running. Gerard and I see eye to eye on lots of music and when he mentioned TAB on Twitter, I checked them out and I haven’t been able to stop listening to their albums since I started!
“I And Love And You” is a song that mentions and was filmed in my beloved Brooklyn (where I’m visiting this weekend). […]
A NY Sweetheart – Loren Brill
When starting this blog, I never intended to feature women that inspire me but I’ve been lucky to have found a number of women that have blown me away like Rachael Faught from glassofwin.com, Julie Flygare from JulieFlygare.com, Erica Sara from ericasaradesigns.com – whom I haven’t featured yet but should – that I might make this a regular feature on the blog.
Today I’m featuring, Loren Brill, founder and CEO of SweetLorens.com, one of my favorite discoveries from the Natural Products Expo/Expo West a few weeks ago. SweetLorens.com is New York based company featuring all-natural ready-to-bake cookies and brownies made with 100% whole grains and natural sweeteners, and do not contain dairy products or preservatives.
Why is Loren inspirational? […]
Adventures In Fitness
Being injured is no fun. It usually means you’re not able to do to the things you most often do to stay fit. I haven’t been able to run or cycle since December.
Since my injury, it’s been hard to be strong in mind and body. I’ve been using Pilates, Core Balance Water Therapy and heated vinyasa yoga to help strengthen my core muscles to aid in getting my mind and body strong again.
A few weeks ago, I went to the Shape Magazine/Oakley Women’s VIP Progression Session and Ambassador Search Event in San Diego and learned some new ways to stay fit and healthy (even while injured) from some of the current Oakley Ambassadors.
First, we got a chance to do a Bombshell Bootcamp with Cari and Carrie from Houston, Texas. I didn’t plan on being in the front row and modifying every move but these powerhouse chicks didn’t seem to mind. We definitely broke a sweat and were warmed up. […]
Foodie Penpals Reveal Day!
If you haven’t heard of Foodie Penpals, it is a great program run by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean. The program allows people to send and receive “fun foodie things, local food items and even homemade treats” with other food lovers around the country.
I like this program because I’ve gotten to try delicious new regional treats – one of my FPP’s sent me homemade tamale mix from New Mexico. I’ve also been lucky enough to have earrings made for my birthday in my February package from my FPP, Jenni from Manhattan, KS (see here).
In March my Foodie Penpal, Roselyn P. sent me a box early in the month (she was on top of it). I sent my FPP, Anne M., her box a tiny bit late (but she did receive it by the end of the month!) but it did include some California Hawaiian Style chips which I hope she liked! […]
Sounds of Saturday – Pet Shop Boys
PSB were a fixture in the 80’s and I’ve sadly never gotten a chance to see them.
This is a live version of “Always On My Mind” because the official version was way too creepy.
This Sounds of Saturday is dedicated to Jay – Happy Birthday tomorrow, my love.
Enjoy and I’ll see you Monday:
