15 Bingeworthy TV Shows – on Netflix or Amazon Prime

I’m excellent at procrastination and lately the way I’ve been avoiding my work/feeding my insomnia is the rabbit hole known as the Netflix binge.

Binge watching television

Clearly not advice that I’m taking.

I did the “House of Cards” binge (S1 in two nights but S2 took longer), the “Orange Is The New Black” binge (S1 only, I’m saving S2) and I’m currently knee deep in the teen drama “One Tree Hill“.  Don’t judge!  I didn’t watch the show the first time around but it’s reminiscent of the 80’s teen dramas I love so much (like “Dawson’s Creek” which I could watch over and over again…for Pacey Witter NOT Dawson).

Since I know that I’m not the only one who gets sucked into to the newest socially acceptable form of bingeing and because I see requests on Facebook and Twitter nearly every day for recommendations of what shows to binge-watch next, I’m sharing some shows you might want to start watching before the Fall TV season kicks in.

Because once you’re done with “Breaking Bad“, “Mad Men“, “Sons of Anarchy“, “Dexter“, “Scandal“, or “The Walking Dead” (which I hear is good but I can’t get into), you really do need a next show to watch!

Tunes For Tuesday – The 70's With The Who

Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday – The 70’s Edition for July!

Welcome to Week 2 of celebrating music of the 1970’s for July’s Tunes For Tuesday.  Today’s song is “Baba O’Riley” (released in 1971) by The Who.  The Who is great running music and considering my first real job out of college was assisting Roger Daltrey’s manager, the songs have special meaning.

This clip of “Baba O’Riley” features Roger, the Irish band The Chieftains and Sinead O’Connor at the 1994 “Daltrey Sings Townshend” show at Carnegie […]

A Life Changing 10K With Jeff Galloway

It’s no secret that I have a love/hate relationship with running.  I still feel like a fraud because I’m so damned inconsistent with my running.  It’s been hard to get back in the groove since Ragnar and Live Ultimate with Wild Boy but wow, did the run the run that ended FitBloggin2014 change my world.

Every FitBloggin’ ends with a run – a 1 miler, a 5K or a 10K.  Last year, I met one of my favorite people, Carrie@FamilyFitnessFoodduring the 5K.  We were both taking it a little slow and wound up chatting most of the way so in my mind, it was a successful run.  I planned on running the 5K this year until it was announced that the 10K route was going to be over the Savannah Bridge (I love me some bridges) and was going to be paced by Jeff Galloway!

Yeah, that Jeff Galloway, the Olympian, official Training Consultant for the runDisney race series, Runner’s World columnist and developer of the Run-Walk-Run method.  Jeff gave a pep talk to all the runners before we set out to do our runs and took pictures with everyone who asked.

Friday's Featured Female – 4 From FitBloggin' Special

Welcome to Friday’s Featured Female!

Friday's Featured Female, #FFF
This weekly series features inspirational stories from admirable women.  IMHO, it’s always good to be reminded of how strength, determination, hard work, heart and ingenuity can impact the quality of one’s life and I’m proud that these women will allow me to share their stories here.

Today I’m not featuring one female, I’m featuring 4 women that I met at FitBloggin’.  I met most of these women for just a few minutes but they all had impact on me.  I’ll be following all of these women in the future and hope you might too.  None of these ladies know that I’m featuring them here so I hope they know it’s in admiration:

Getting Nourished at FitBloggin'

Ever feel hungover from a vacation?  After a two week trip which included a long stay in Chicago with friends and the FitBloggin’ 2014 Conference in Savannah, Georgia, I was happy to get home.  Being away for so long can sometimes be depressing but when I sat down to write today this lyric from Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” popped into my head:

FitBloggin', health, fitness, conference, blogging, Train, Drops of Jupiter

The past 2 weeks were most definitely a soul vacation.  Chicago and Savannah were […]

Tunes For Tuesday – The 70's

Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday!

Music, Tunes For Tuesday Image: Daisy

It’s Tunes For Tuesday and welcome to July!  Since it’s the 7th month of the year, we’ll be celebrating the 1970’s this month.  I did it last year (remember this 1970’s song with the awesome mondegreen?).  If you don’t know the term mondegreen, it’s a great one and you ALL do it even if you don’t know it).

Today’s tune is Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”.  This song always gets me running and this particular weekend I […]
