The Color Run, #13in2013

In case you forgot, I’m injured.  Since January, I’ve been going to Physical Therapy for my lower back and haven’t been able to run.  I’ve been doing my exercises at home diligently and I was given clearance to walk (not run) The Color Run in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium.

Deemed the Happiest 5K in the World, The Color Run is a 3.1 mile course where participants wear white clothing so that when you reach specific “Color Zones” you are doused with colored (blue, yellow, orange, pink) cornstarch and at the finish, you wear a piece of the rainbow.

I met up with my fellow Duranie friend, Josie, whose father designed a logo for our team “Beautiful Colors”.  I didn’t get my iron-on paper in time to make my shirt but I wanted to show off her dad’s work.

The grounds at Dodger Stadium are hilly terrain for running.  The uneven pavement and the plethora of walkers made me not miss the act of running too much.

This was definitely a good way to ease back into the run culture.  It was fun, untimed race with walkers and runners of every shape, size and ability.  I would highly recommend this race to everyone regardless of fitness level for the sheer fun factor.

Wild Boy and Jay did come to the race but they waited patiently at the finish line.  Wild Boy wasn’t interested in getting color sprayed on him but he will be running the San Diego ING Kids Rock Race in June!

I’m looking very forward to the Pasadena Rock ‘n’ Roll Mini 5K on February 17th and hoping PT clears me to run this time.   Once I get the go-ahead from PT, #13in2013 training begins in earnest for the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on June 2nd and I hope you’ll join me for the journey.

Starting next week, I’ll be featuring my first guest post with a special focus close to the ValentineRD’s heart.  I look forward to featuring more wonderful food, fitness and health guest posters in the future.  If you’re interested in being one of those guest posters, please let me know!
