Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday – It’s Women in Music for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October!
For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m highlighting some of the great women in music. While I’m well aware that men also can be diagnosed with breast cancer (according the American Cancer Society the risk of breast cancer for men is 1 in 1,000 vs 1 in 8 for women), I figured that giving the spotlight to women for the month wasn’t a bad idea.
Today’s featured artist is the truly wonderful Annie Lennox. I believe that I might have worn out my “Diva” disc because I played it so often. Annie has a great voice and I’m looking forward to her new album which will be released in all formats on October 21st (vinyl was released on 9/30). Today’s Tune is “Walking On Broken Glass” not only because it features Annie’s great voice but because it’s a great song and video. I hope you enjoy today’s feature!

Who is your favorite female singer?
I LOVE this song! A friend of mine used to listen to this on an endless loop when she was going through a divorce. I like your idea of highlighting women in music for the month of October for BCA.
Of course I also love Annie Lenox. I would love to see her in concert before I die…and it won’t be from breast cancer because I get mammograms regularly! Do you like the way I tied that all together? 🙂
LOVE HER & THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can see why your friend played this song on a loop during that difficult time. Annie is quite the songbird and she is absolutely fierce!
You never cease to amaze me, smart lady! I’d also like to see her someday and funny enough, I’m due for my mammogram soon!
Thanks J. She (and you) are amazing!
