To usher in the 90’s Tunes For Tuesday feature I’m showcasing one of the albums I played over and over during that time – the soundtrack to Reality Bites.
I’m a big Winona Ryder fan (Heathers is one of my favorite movies ever) but the character of Lalaina wasn’t the most likeable, was she? Reality Bites definitely took an interesting look at the potential lives recent college graduates in the early 90’s (which I was at the time).
Although the most famous song from the soundtrack was “Stay” by Lisa Loeb, today I’m showcasing “Spin The Bottle” by the Juliana Hatfield Three. It’s an earworm tune that borders on annoying but I like it and I hope you will too! I especially love that this clip is from MTV’s 120 Minutes show.
Were you a fan of Reality Bites? Is there a movie that epitomized a special time in your life?
OMG I haven’t heard this song in forever!! I loved the movie and love this song. I especially love the MTV VJ clip. I think I remember watching that endlessly in my apartment in Boston when I went to BU! Oh God those were the days! Thanks for the refresh. I needed that this morning!!
I loved that movie. But, I don’t remember the song 🙁
I LOVE that movie! I played that soundtrack to death. I liked the cover of “Baby I Love Your Ways” (or whatever the title is). Did you hear that they are exploring the idea of a tv show for next year?
Jennifer: A TV show? OMG, no! Very few of the characters weren’t likeable for nearly 2 hours I couldn’t imagine for 22 hours over a series (or even 11 if a half hour). Glad to know I wasn’t the only one who played the soundtrack endlessly.
