The 80’s are back in a very big way! All of the above 80’s artists will be on tour in the very near future – some are limited places and dates but they will be out there nonetheless.
I’m excited about seeing a number of these bands. I’ll admit it, I’ve only seen 5 of the artists above but I’m hoping that will that will change very soon.
Artists in the collage and their tour information can be found linked to the artist’s name below:
Row 1: The English Beat, The B52’s, Weird Al Yankovic and ABC (just 2 CA dates)
Row 2: Big Country with Mike Peters (from The Alarm), Hall & Oates, Howard Jones (1 CA date as of 3/12/13) and Peter Murphy (this may be canceled given his recent arrest)
Row 3: The Go-Go’s, Depeche Mode, Ultravox (with Simple Minds) (US dates not yet announced bit hinted) and They Might Be Giants
Row 4: Billy Idol, Wang Chung (2 CA dates), New Order and Simple Minds (with Ultravox)
I also just found out that one of my favorite 80’s bands that I’ve never seen live, The Sparks are also on a short tour (and at Coachella!) but are sold out in Los Angeles. Damn, I would love to see “Angst in My Pants” or “Eaten By The Monster of Love” live!
And if those bands aren’t enough for you, don’t forget about Durandemonium 2013 – the Duran Duran Fan Convention in Chicago this October! Early Registration ends tomorrow, 3/21 at 11:55PM CST so click here for tickets and let me know that I’ll be seeing you in October.
Do you know of any other 80’s bands going on tour or having local dates? If you want to go with me to see some of these shows either in NY or LA, let me know in the comments section? Which 80’s band do you wish you could see live?

Yay, Hall & Oates! That is all. 🙂
I included that one just for you. Daryl really looks like a girl on that cover though.
I still want to see B-52’s, but they always play at House of Blues ($50) when I need to save money. I’ve seen: Billy Idol, Berlin, Culture Club, The Knack, Missing Persons, Knight Ranger, Foreigner & Journey. Wouldn’t mind seeing Weird Al, Cyndi Lauper and of course, Madonna. 🙂
I’ve seen Culture Club and Madonna (at the Rainforest Concert at Carnegie Hall when she performed 2 songs) but I’d love to see a bunch of those that you’ve seen as well.
Maybe this summer….
I am friends with the daughter of the drummer of Violent Femmes (Victor DeLorenzo) and she tipped me of that they are going to be touring this year!
Sounds like you also have an “in” for damned good seats! I’ve never seen them but would love to. Maybe I’ll get my chance this year…
