As a runner, a 9/11 New Yorker and a human being with a heart and soul, the explosions at the Boston Marathon have sickened me.

I will NEVER make it to Boston but I do hope to make it to another race and get the chance to cross that finish line and be thrilled, not scared.

I will NEVER understand why someone would feel the need to set off bombs and hurt innocent people ever.

While I don’t advocate shielding yourself from the world outside, I hope one day that people won’t have to be afraid to get on a plane, go to the movies, go to work, send their children to school or even just show support for their community.
