Netflix Cliffnotes & A Flashback
Last night when I should have been going to sleep (since I wasn’t able to go and see The English Beat play in my neighborhood), I got hooked into a miniseries on Netflix based on the critically acclaimed novel, “White Teeth” by Zadie Smith.

I wish I could say I was embarrassed that I watched nearly all of the 4 hour series (I’m not) but I am a bit embarrassed that I actually tried to read this book sometime ago and just couldn’t get through it. […]
All The Beautiful Colors…
Who wouldn’t want to run this 5K? Photo by AngryJulieMonday
Looks like fun! Photo by Josh Hunter
In keeping with my commitment to training for the 13 miles in 2013, I will be running The Color Run 5K in Los Angeles on 2/2/12. I will be running with the team Beautiful Colors (yes, a Duran Duran nod).
If you want to join my team or just run what looks like it will be […]
Mix and A-Mingle…
The title is about as Christmas-y as I’m going to get. Today was my “mix and a-mingle” day with the Pasadena Social Media Group, a gathering of people utilizing social media in many different ways. This group, along with the SoCal Lady Bloggers, have helped me feel welcome in a new arena and in my new city.
Before meeting either of the above mentioned groups, this picture only would have appeared as a full wine glass to me:

Social Media statement or Full Glass of Wine?
Let’s be honest, it still sort of looks like a full glass of wine to me but at least I feel I have a slight toe-hold in the pool of social media.
Thankful Thursday – Ride For Jon

Inspiration
This is Jon Dephouse, a 32 year old triathlete, priest, husband, and father of two young boys who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as Pleomorphic Rhabdomyosarcoma in October 2012.
Jon is my neighbor and when his wife, Sarah Lynn, told me of Jon’s diagnosis I felt the need to do something (however small) to help so with the help of some friends at The Cycle Annex in South Pasadena (where both Jon and Sarah Lynn were former instructors and where I take indoor cycling classes), Team Dephouse and the Ride For Jon was born.

13 in 2013
I think I’ve made my New Year’s Resolution for 2013 already. 13 in 2013 – 13.1 miles that is.

I’ve had to pull out of 3 half marathons due to injury (and reinjury) in the last 3 years but I think all signs point to the 4th time being a charm (I didn’t even realize the pun as it formed in my head until I looked at the above picture and decided not to edit it. I’m cheesy and I’m ok with it).
Now I must decide where to run. […]
