A New Perspective – Laughing Lotus Rooftop Yoga
When I fell in love with exercise it fueled my obsessive nature – length of class time, reps, weights, calories burned, calorie intake, distance completed, rate of perceived exertion, amount of sweat, weight lost etc. I spent a very, very long time letting the numbers of fitness rule my mind and heart that when I discovered yoga at a studio on Christopher Street in NYC called Laughing Lotus in 2002, my world forever changed.
When I found yoga, I found a way to enjoy exercise in a way that was more physically, mentally and emotionally challenging than running a marathon. Through yoga, I gained a new perspective about my pursuit of fitness and health. Yoga helped me learn to be accepting of myself and to appreciate the power of my body, mind and soul. Prior to practicing yoga, I definitely was using exercise as a form of torture along the pursuit to become what I thought was going to be the best version of myself. Now, even though I don’t practice yoga regularly it is really a part of who I am. […]
It's Duran Duran Appreciation Day!
No, I don’t normally post on Saturdays anymore but today is a special day – it’s Duran Duran Appreciation Day!
I’m a big fan and even though I won’t be able to attend the Duran Duran fan convention happening this fall, I can’t wait for the new album to be released in 2014 and what will likely be an upcoming tour.
Maybe this will be the year that I’ll get to meet SLB. Maybe not. Last year’s Terminal 5 Concert was […]
8 Alternatives To The Hard-To-Get Cronut
Move over cupcakes, the cronut has arrived. The cronut is a treat that is a cross between and croissant and a donut and was developed by Chef Dominique Ansel of Dominique Ansel Bakery in NYC. Ever since it’s launch in May 2013, even the very impatient people of NYC have been known to wait on line for hours (!!!) just to get a taste of one of these $5 treats.

Cycling In A Pool? AQUA STUDIO NY
Cycling in the water? Yup! I mentioned that I was going to squeeze in as many NYC Workout Options as I possibly could during my 2 week stay and yesterday, I got the chance to experience AQUA – The First & Only Aquacycling Studio in NY (per their window):
Tunes For Tuesday (80's Edition) – Echo & The Bunnymen
Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (80’s Edition) – it’s August so we’re going 80’s!

For today’s Tunes For Tuesday, I’m featuring Echo and The Bunnymen. This band personified my 1980’s experience. I wanted to be goth but I wasn’t. I did wear a black motorcycle jacket and black clothing a good portion of the time but I wasn’t close to being considered goth.
In the late 80’s I was in high school and college and spent […]
They Say You Can't Go Home Again
If you’ve heard the expression “You can’t go home again” I’m here to let you know that it’s definitely false because I have. Last week, after a year of not having Brooklyn, as my primary residence, I’m home again. It may be for only two weeks but in so many ways, it feels like I never left.
It’s not only being reunited with friends and family (and those friends who feel mike family), it’s everything such as some of the familiar –
- Sights: people walking, neighborhood stores, Yankee caps, brownstones and skyscapers
- Sounds: honking horns, subway screeches, the New York accent and even hearing […]
