A Busy Day – Bagels, Bikes & Bjorn

To lift your spirits a little after 9/11 I’m giving you some alliteration and a chronicle of the busy but amazing day I had last week.  Only I could have bagels, bikes and Bjorn packed into a Sunday.  It was a pretty fabulous day from start to finish!

Bagels:

Since moving to Los Angeles, my family has been on the quest for a good bagel.  I’m sorry LA, you win with the weather but your bagels are just plain lousy.  Jay has been schlepping suitcases full of Brooklyn bagels to LA with every business trip (nearly tipping the scales at the over 50 lbs mark more than a few times).

After talking about it for some time, Jay finally decided to try to roll the dice and attempt make his own bagels.  The results were surprising!  If you want to find out if water really is the all important ingredient, see Jay’s blog post.

Workout Wednesday – Remembering Strength on 9/11

I worked on a post for Workout Wednesday most of last night and instead of pushing through a blinding headache, I resolved to finish the post this morning and publish later today.  Before I went to sleep I remembered that today was the anniversary of 9/11/01.  The post that I was working on will be further delayed because reflecting and remembering is of utmost importance today.

I’m a New Yorker and I can remember the events of 9/11/01 as clear as the blue sky that canopied my city on that day.  9/11 changed my world and the entire world in so many ways. […]

Tunes For Tuesday (90's Edition) – Pearl Jam

Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (90’s Edition)!

Here’s my #confessyourunpopular opinion concerning the 1990’s – I didn’t (and still don’t) like Nirvana (hold your produce, please).  Grunge rock was definitely the thing in the ’90’s and Kurt Cobain was the definitely the man leading the charge.  I was sad when he committed suicide but I wasn’t unhappy that his band’s music was over (although not ’90’s related, I do like the Foo Fighters).  However, I was most definitely a Pearl Jam fan! New Year, New Stuff

You may have noticed there was no post on Friday.  It was Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) on Thursday and Friday and I didn’t get a post written in time to publish.  Perhaps getting myself organized should be one of the second group “New Year’s Resolutions” I get to make now?

Rosh Hashanah, someecards

I’ll be checking in on my #13in2013 goals at the end of this month but since it’s a New Year, I guess now is a good time to announce some new stuff so here goes: […]

ENERGYbits Review

Who doesn’t need more energy?  I’m an intermittent insomniac so to say I’m someone who lacks energy is an understatement.  I like my 1-2 cups of coffee per day but the plethora of energy drinks available scare me silly.  However, when I saw fellow fitness enthusiasts talking about a the 100% natural spirulina algae pill-shaped ENERGYbits on Twitter, I was intrigued….and lucky because the company sent me a sample to road-test and some literature (shown below).
