The #Selfie – A Blogiversary Retrospective

This post took longer than I thought to write.  Today I’m celebrating my One Year Blogiversary.  I had written some posts before December of last year as a 31 Day Project (aka dare) to see if I could actually start and stay committed to keeping up a blog but I’m considering today (ok, so maybe yesterday) my true Blogiversary.

Blogiversary, 1 year, anniversary

Friday's Featured Female – Maribel Reyes of Stroller Adventures

Welcome to Friday’s Featured Female!
This series features inspirational stories from admirable women.  IMHO, it’s always good to be reminded of how strength, determination, hard work, heart and ingenuity can impact the quality of one’s life and I’m proud that these women will allow me to share their stories here.

Today, I’m so happy to have a post from the lovely Maribel@Stroller Adventures.  I met Maribel at Bloggy Boot Camp Vegas and as an active member of the So Cal Lady Bloggers, she’s given me a ton of support as this blog has developed.  Maribel recently moved from Northern California to Costa Rica(!) with her husband and two children.  Along with many trials and tribulations that come along with moving to a new country, Maribel has been blogging about her weight loss journey.  I love Maribel’s spirit and passion to make a life long change for her health and I know you need to hear her story.  Sooo, haaave you met Maribel?

My weight loss journey began in June 2012 (after 11 years of not paying much attention to my weight), I felt it was finally time I set myself up for success with my traditional new year’s resolution. To jump start my weight loss, I participated in a blogger based weight loss program in which I documented my progress and shared all about it, the good and the bad. It was a challenge to change my lifestyle but not impossible. Thankfully I had my family and friends support, not only did they cheer me on and celebrate my accomplishments but they also supported me when I felt I could no longer continue.

How To Run With The Big Boys

Tomorrow, I’m running the 5 Mile Prospect Park Turkey Trot.  I’ve done this race every year for 4 years and it’s always hard.  I haven’t done much running lately so I’m a little scared.  Pretty soon  5 miles won’t be so scary because I’ll be training to be part of an amazing 12 person relay team for the SoCal Ragnar in April 2014.  Today, I’m lucky enough to have found one of my soulmate bloggers (who will also be one of my Ragnar teammates), Carrie@FamilyFitnessFood give her story about how she went from recreational runner to Ragnar.

How To Run With The Big Kids

FamilyFitnessFood.com, CarrieHi everyone! I’m Carrie from Family Fitness Food.  I’m so happy that Melissa is letting me drop in on her little bloggy space today to share some thoughts with you.  I met Melissa back in June at Fitbloggin in the most random of circumstances – on the very last morning, we set out for a 5K run and we just happened to fall in step with each other.  I can’t believe we didn’t meet earlier in the weekend – it was like saving the best for last.

Something happens when you run with a person and discover so many shared interests – from running, to nutrition to parenting to living close to each other to even sharing similar religious beliefs.  You make a true friend in a very short amount of time. […]

Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday – Being Thankful Edition – Week 4!

Be Thankful, Scrabble Letters, Tunes For Tuesday Image: Rustiqueart

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday!  On this holiday week, I’m sharing one of my childhood favorite singers, Harry Chapin.  Harry Chapin was a master storyteller in song and his music can pierce you heart and soul.

Today’s pick is “Circle” and it’s all about how life is a circle but to be grateful for all we have.  I hope this song touches you as […]

Giving Thanks

I’m in NYC with very limited internet access so today’s post will be a brief one.  I’m lucky enough to have a great guest post from Carrie@FamilyFitnessFood on Wednesday and there is a very special Friday’s Featured Female coming at the end of this week so stay tuned!

On Thanksgiving, I’m running the Prospect Park 5M Turkey Trot that I’ve run for a few years in a row now and even though I haven’t been doing too much running lately, I’m a little excited (although it is FREEZING here in NYC).
