I don’t normally go out on a “school night” but when my SoCal Lady Blogger buddy, Carolyn West (thistalkaintcheap.com), said I could be her +1 for a Fox Home Entertainment Scavenger Hunt and event for the DVD/BlueRay release of “House At The End of the Street” (#HATES) on Tuesday night in Hollywood, I couldn’t resist.
When I got to the meeting place, I had no idea that I’d get the chance to see No Doubt performing at the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage to usher in JKL’s new timeslot (11:35pm). We were down the block but it was certainly a very cool way to spend some time.

The Spooky Scavenger Hunt was put on by Watson Adventures, a company I’ve heard of from NY and I was excited. I’m still a newbie to LA and it was amazing to check out some of the spooky (not scary, which I’ve been told has entirely different meaning in LA) places in Hollywood.
Carolyn and I had to bring back 15/20 clues in order to complete the hunt. We learned a few interesting facts about some of Hollywood landmarks like Boardner’s (which used to be called Morrissey’s Hair Salon) , Musso and Frank Grill (Hollywood’s oldest eatery) and the Hollywood Museum (they have one of Marilyn Monroe’s empty pill bottles on display).
Two of my favorite stops on the hunt were:

We then met up with Jamie Gall (mngirlinLA.com) and Melissa Reyes (MizMeliz.com) (and her lovely husband) for scrumptious drinks and food at the Geisha House. The Bloody Feather drink (a combination of sake, champagne, chambord, with a blueberry inside a lychee – an eyeball effect) was a perfect drink for me and I’ll definitely search for something similar in the future.
Not only were we all lucky enough to have Mark Tonderai, the director of #HATES, introduce a “behind the scenes” featurette but Carolyn and I (“The Ghostwalkers”) won the scavenger hunt and the prizes were Kindle Fires for each of us!

I rarely (if ever) win anything and I’m feeling especially lucky right now. 2013 has already been very good to me. I’m learning that change is good – I may need to start going out on “school nights” more often.
It was so much fun. Hopefully, we’ll get to do more events like this.
I felt like a real blogger to have access to an event like this. Thanks again for making me your +1. I hope to be able to reciprocate some day.
<3 it 😉
Thank you again for the great evening! You showed a NY transplant a bit of what LA nightlife. Hope to see you again soon. PS – Mark Tonderai was an absolute sweetheart. You need to get him Tweeting (he has an account)!!
Now that sounds like a fun evening!
Teri, it was a blast! Thanks for stopping by. Oh, an “Abbey” book, I may need to check it out for my nightly plank/reading session.
