Sounds of Saturday – Depeche Mode

The 80’s are back and hard! Depeche Mode is releasing a new album and going on a world tour (link here).

I like old school Depeche Mode and saw them on the Black Celebration tour at Radio City on June 8th, 1986 (8th row center – thanks to an old boyfriend).

I will say I’m a bit tempted to buy a ticket for this tour and notice they’ll be at Jones Beach this summer (when I’m likely going to be in town).  If anyone wants to convince me to go, let me know in the comments.

A Celebration & Lesson In Healthy Cooking

March has definitely been my own “health focus” month.  I can’t wait to share some of the highlights from the Natural Products Expo/Expo West and give you the inside scoop from the VIP Oakley Progression Sessions (Brand Ambassador Contest) very soon. It completely slipped my mind that March 13th was National Registered Dietitian Day until I saw other RD’s tweeting about it (bad dietitian, bad dietitian).  Chobani (the delicious authentic strained Greek Yogurt brand) did not forget this special day and invited some local RD’s to an event at CookLA to celebrate.

Chobani, Registered Dietitian Day

Chobani not only has 4 full-time Registered Dietitians on staff but it’s been said that their founder, Hamdi Ulukaya, has called Registered Dietitians “god’s people”.  Respect is good.  Thanks Hamdi!

Back in January, Oakley, the maker of premium sunglasses, goggles, prescription eyewear, apparel, footwear and accessories and Shape Magazine teamed together for a contest to find the next Oakley Brand Ambassadors in three major markets, San Diego, Boulder and Dallas.

As part of the search and contest to find the right women to join the Oakley Perform Beautifully Collective200 lucky women were being offered the chance to be invited to attend an exclusive day-long VIP Oakley Progression Session which would include a Boot Camp session, a Yoga Session, a Nutrition Seminar, a Live Ambassador Search with Oakley and access to the mobile O-store to check out the latest offerings from Oakley plus product giveaways!

I got the chance to know the Oakley product while at my first social media event, the Fitness Magazine Meet & Tweet last year.  I received a pair of Oakley sunglasses as a gift at the event and I’ve done all of my running with them ever since.  When I saw the details of the contest, I entered but never believed I’d get one of those 200 invitations.

I’m happy to say that I was wrong!  I’m in shock that I’m one of the 200 lucky winners who have been invited to the Women’s Fitness Training Progression Session in San Diego next week!  It seems unreal that I’m a contender to be one of the next Oakley Brand Ambassadors! […]

Secret Menus Exposed

Secret menus seem to be gaining popularity everywhere.  Everyone wants to be on the inside track and when it comes to food it makes you feel even a little bit more special.

Many people probably know that Starbucks has a secret menu of more than 30 secret menu items (here) but did you know that Jamba Juice has over 39 secret menu items (here)? […]

Sounds of Saturday – Hall & Oates

Because I wanted a little happy this week and because it is featured in two movies I love (The Wedding Singer and 500 Days of Summer), this week’s Sounds of Saturday is Hall & Oates “You Make My Dreams Come True”.

A great happy song and this version from 500 Days of Summer is hilarious (there’s even a Star Wars reference in it, guys!).  Enjoy and I’ll see you Monday!

Be The Inspiration

Fitness, Brooklyn Bridge

I took the above photo on the Brooklyn Bridge while on a run in January of 2012.  I must have run by this sign many times before I ever noticed it.  I thought this photo would be part of a post I’d write about my half marathon training but that isn’t meant to be for me right now.

However, I’m not without inspiration in my life. Today I was reminded in two different ways. […]
