Sounds of Saturday – Midnight Oil
In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, I searched for an appropriate song to play this Saturday. I wanted to find a song of hope, tribute and strength with enough respect to those affected by this awful tragedy.
I chose “Forgotten Years” by Midnight Oil because of the fighting spirit laced within the song. This is one of my favorite running songs because of the sense of determination and strength I find through the music and lyrics. Although all of the lyrics do not apply to the Boston Marathon event, I do think that that “these should not be forgotten […]
6 Is 1/3 Of The Way To Being An Adult
6 years ago this was Wild Boy. The transformation from an infant to a toddler to a “kid” goes fast – everyone says tells you that but you never, ever believe it. You get 18 years of technical childhood and sometimes it seems endless and other times it’s really a blur. […]
#PrayForBoston

As a runner, a 9/11 New Yorker and a human being with a heart and soul, the explosions at the Boston Marathon have sickened me.
I will NEVER make it to Boston but I do hope to make it to another race and get the chance to cross that finish line and be thrilled, not scared.
I will NEVER understand why someone would feel the need to set off bombs and hurt innocent people ever.
While I don’t advocate shielding yourself from the world outside, I hope one day […]
Sounds of Saturday – They Might Be Giants
This Sounds of Saturday is a combination of one my favorite bands, They Might Be Giants, covering a song that has significant meaning to me – “Tubthumping” by Chumbawumba. Tomorrow is Wild Boy’s birthday party and these two things say party to me for sure.
I’m famous because of this song in certain circles. Ask me one day and I’ll tell you why.
Enjoy and see you Monday!
LA is not a Culinary Wasteland
Nearly 9 months of living in California and I’m still missing the food from NYC. California has the weather but there’s no place on earth with better bagels and pizza than New York (my suitcase full of bagels from last week’s trip will vouch for that). However, I think I might have found one place in Los Angeles (so far) that makes me not miss the culinary world of New York quite so much – ink.

ink. is the first signature restaurant of Michael Voltaggio, winner of Season 6 of Bravo’s Top Chef (above in the restaurant’s open kitchen – not my photo but he was in kitchen the night we dined). I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch Season 6 of Top Chef so I didn’t know who Voltaggio was but after obsessively reading restaurant reviews for a place to bring Jay for his birthday, I knew ink. was the place. What A Wonderful World – A Kick Ass 5K Run in NYC
NYC is amazing in Spring. The gorgeous weather is short-lived but it makes one of the most wonderful cities on Earth even more spectacular. NYC in Spring makes you feel like you can do things you wouldn’t (or couldn’t) normally achieve – both Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys didn’t lie in their anthems. It even helped me run a 5K today after over 4 months of injury. Yup, I ran a glorious 5K today in my favorite city in the world! Being back (pun intended) in NY always makes me want to run but today I ran for Abby at Run Stronger Every Day’s Kick Ass 5K for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. A run for a good cause always gets me motivated! The universe was telling me that I needed to run today when it woke me at 6:45am (well, maybe it was that ambulance) but I’m so glad that I did because I got to see sights like these at my favorite place to run, the Brooklyn Bridge: […]
