Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (Eclectic)! How could you not include “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers in an eclectic musical tribute? The song is genius with quotes to use for days! I love old Kenny when he looked human (the man is now the poster boy for bad plastic surgery behind Mickey Rourke) and before he was known on Seinfeld for his chicken.
Here it is, the song, the legend and the lyrics of life:
You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.
What is the strange song that gives you life advice?
Classic! Who doesn’t love this song and sing along when it comes on? Not sure about getting life lessons from another strange song….maybe the Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want!”
The preschool teachers at my little guy’s school taught the kids the words and melody to “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” so I think you may be right!
I remember this video! I remember being way to young to even understand what this song was about and still loving it. Another great one!
A classic indeed, right?
