Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (80’s Edition) – it’s August so we’re going 80’s!

You didn’t think you’d get out of the 80’s Tunes For Tuesday theme without a little tip of the hat to Duran Duran in some fashion, right?  I thought about it but then I said, “No Way!”

Today’s pick is “Election Day” by Arcadia.  For those that don’t know, Arcadia was comprised of Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor of Duran Duran (while John Taylor and Andy Taylor went to do some work with The Power Station) who together only recorded one album, “So Red The Rose”.

There are many Duran fans that didn’t and don’t care for the Arcadia splinter recording but personally, I loved it!  Yes, it was a little pretentious but the music was fantastic and although I wasn’t sure I liked it at the time, Simon rocked the black hair fabulously!

This video cracks me up (even though it is meant to be ultra sophisticated).  Check out Simon’s faux growl face and the ridiculousness of the extras – you have to laugh.  However, the music is really good and the lyric “she’s moody and grey, she’s mean and she’s restless” describes me to a T most days so I choose to ignore how the over-the-top this video is and just appreciate it.  Enjoy!
