Welcome to Tunes For Tuesday (80’s Edition) – it’s August so we’re going 80’s!

If you grew up in New York City in the 1980’s and listened to New Wave music, you knew the group APB.  A punk type band from Scotland with incredibly funky bass lines, this was the band you waited for the DJ to play at a club!

APB had a few hits –  “Shoot You Down” (one of my favorites), “What Kind of Girl”, “Summer Love” and “Something To Believe In” but today I’m playing “Rainy Day” (which must be very appropriate for Scotsmen).  The audio in the clip isn’t fabulous but I love that it was filmed at The Ritz in NYC (which was an awesome venue) and that people came on stage during the performance and danced similarly to how I did at clubs (back in the day).  I believe I saw APB perform but I went to a slew of concerts in the 80’s and they’re all melding together now.

YouTube did help me discover that APB played in Brooklyn in 2006 (a show that I missed and after watching the clips I’m retroactively sad).  I hope you enjoy this vintage clip!

Did you listen to APB in the 80’s?  If so, which song was your favorite?  If not, what band is your “APB”?
