New Year, New Yoga Teacher.
That’s right, people.
It’s a New Year and I’m a new Yoga Teacher.
In October I mentioned that I was beginning Yoga Teacher Training. I’m officially done now and I’m ready to share my experience.
Why didn’t I blog about the process of Yoga Teacher Training?
My program was very intense and honestly, I didn’t have a lot to give to blog writing.
CorePower Yoga Teacher Training Requirements:
- 8 weeks of classes: 3x/week (9 hours of in class lecture and practical instruction)
- OMwork (aka homework): Written essays, reading, studying and practice teaching time
- Journaling: Documentation after every […]
Happy Duran Duran Appreciation Day!
No, I normally don’t post on Sundays but today is one special Sunday.
It’s Duran Duran Appreciation Day!
I’ve met many people who chuckle when they read that my blog tagline is, “Dietitian born to love food, fitness, family and Duran Duran” – some because they think it’s kitschy, some because they find it odd and uncomfortable laughter is all they can muster and some because it’s not every day that you meet someone who is ok with telling the world that they are a big time Duranie! Friday's Featured Female – Stephanie@FoodandFitness4 Real
Welcome to Friday’s Featured Female!
This weekly series features inspirational stories from admirable women. IMHO, it’s always good to be reminded of how strength, determination, hard work, heart and ingenuity can impact the quality of one’s life and I’m proud that these women will allow me to share their stories here.
Today’s #FFF Stephanie@FoodandFitness4Real, is one multitalented woman. This blonde former NFL cheerleader is not only a powerhouse runner but she’s also petroleum engineer, wife, mother of two young children, writer and recipe developer. If you didn’t know her IRL, you might want to smack her because she makes many of us (hmm – me) look like slackers. However, this pretty and petite lady is one of the nicest people you’ll ever want to meet. Social media brought us together but FitBloggin’ made us friends. Get to know this fabulous female right now!
Soooo, have you met Stephanie?
Hi guys! My name is Stephanie and I blog about balancing real life with healthy living at Food and Fitness 4 Real. I am so excited that Melissa asked me to write for her Friday’s Featured Female series. When I started my healthy living blog 3 years ago, one of my main goals was to inspire others to make healthy choices towards a healthy lifestyle. As a busy career mom, I know it can be hard to find time for fitness so today I am going to be talking about the importance of a healthy support system from Fitness Friends!
In Susie's Kitchen – A Gluten Free Bread Baking Class
What’s the absolute worst thing you can do to a girl who bakes recreationally several times a week?
Diagnose her with celiac disease.
Yup, that’s right. I was diagnosed with celiac a couple of months ago—shortly before my birthday, in fact, and no, the lab reports were not gift-wrapped—I was initially totally relieved (it could’ve been worse, right?) Then I went grocery shopping and had a nervous breakdown in the baking aisle. I baked a lot. Cookies and cakes to bring to family gatherings and cousins’ bridal showers, birthday cakes for family members, cupcakes for my niece and nephew . . . I even made my brother-in-law’s wedding cake a few years ago! What on earth was I going to do now?! How was I going to relearn, literally, everything I knew about baking?
And then there was the bread factor.
When you’re diagnosed with celiac, your first thought is, “Oh no! I can’t have _____ or ______ !” (You can fill in the blanks with the junk food of your choice. Go on—most of them have gluten, so you are SOL, as they say.) But no one tells you just how much you are going to miss bread. […]
A Summer Tune Up with Lucy Activewear
Keeping with the 5 Mini Motivation Strategies To Maintain The Mojo (which I’m humbled and proud to say was recently featured in the Daily Burn weekly round-up), I’ve found that feeding the fitness […]

Friday's Featured Female – Debbie@LiveFromLaQuinta
Welcome to Friday’s Featured Female!
This weekly series features inspirational stories from admirable women. IMHO, it’s always good to be reminded of how strength, determination, hard work, heart and ingenuity can impact the quality of one’s life and I’m proud that these women will allow me to share their stories here. Today’s #FFF is the very amazing Debbie@LiveFromLaQuinta. As she’ll tell you below, Debbie and I didn’t know each other before Ragnar SoCal 2014 but another #FFF,
Melissa@MelissaRunningIt, brought us together. Debbie is a disciplined runner, a ridiculously sweet person and her unique dedication to both fitness and animals is admirable. As a runner and an example of being fit for life, Debbie has run 36 marathons (yes, 36!) and is a prime example of what you can do when you’re determined, dedicated and love health and fitness – there may be something to that vegan living! Learn more about this fabulous woman now!
Sooooo have you met Debbie?
Hi, I’m Debbie and I blog over at Live from La Quinta, where I write about running, fitness, and living a vegan lifestyle. I’m very excited and proud to be a Friday Featured Female. Melissa and I met when we were part of the same Ragnar Team back in April. There’s nothing like the shared experience of six dirty, tired, yet awesome women, together in a van for about 36 hours to create an unbreakable bond of friendship. I’m so happy that I’m going to get a chance to meet up with most of the women again in a couple weeks at Blogfest! Maybe we can discuss next year’s Ragnar (what do you say, ladies?). […]
