Busy is good, right? I’ve been busy and it’s been a good busy – I attended a fabulous yoga event hosted by Murad Skin Care and Fitness Magazine last week, was announced as a FitFluential Ambassador (so happy) and I just came home from Bloggy Boot Camp/Women Get Social yesterday. Being around amazing women and getting a chance to feed your mind, body and soul in new ways is always inspiring to me. I was ridiculously anxious to recap some of the meaty tid-bits of these events and share them with all of you but when I sat down at my computer, I got a message from Google Drive telling me that my storage capacity was full. I couldn’t even download another image. I was angry. I freaked out. I started crying and then I realized that this might be a sign:
Yes, I could pay for more storage and just keeping going but I didn’t like the method nor the madness. My “holy crap I’m soooooo busy” mentality meant that I was just bulldozing ahead to get tasks done, without really taking the time to do things right. I’ve been doing a million things lately and few of them very well so I need to make a change.
I’ve gotten a clear sign from the tech gods that I need to slow down and get myself organized with my life, blog, business and family. I‘m not giving up this blog, I love it (you, the reader and the amazing people within the blogosphere way too much to leave)!
However, I do think I’m going to scale back my posting schedule for a little while. I want to be a better version of myself. While I know I can’t do it all, I do know that I’m not the blogger, entrepreneur, friend, family member and “athlete” that I want to be (I’m having a ton of trouble referring to myself as an athlete but since I have the LoziLu Mud Run and the SoCal Ragnar Relay in the next month, I’m going with that description for now).
As we enter into the last third of the first quarter of the year (do you like my math skills there?), I realize I’m failing miserably at meeting my #14in2014 goals and if I plan to get anywhere close to meeting them, things need to change now.
Again, let me be clear. I’m not going away. I may just be posting on an irregular schedule for a little while. I’ll still be active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and hope you’ll stick with me there. Who knows, maybe this will be the time that I’ll delve into Google+ and Pinterest and find you there?
Watch this space. I know there are great things coming soon enough.
Tell me, what’s your best computer organization and/or time management tip that might help me get through this transition period faster!
Right now I am loving Todoist for keeping myself on task and remembering to do everything. I have a project folder for blogging, personal, and home+ finance.
Omg Melissa! You are describing my life right now. Things are so crazy busy and I have a hard time keeping up with everything. I think it is totally reasonable for you to take a step back. Keeping sane should be our number one priority. Congrats on FitFluential and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
Melissa, we get it…totally okay to focus on what is at hand…I love that you are stepping back to get more involved with your fitness routine. I have been a slacker myself and I find that when I am distracted then my blogging falls to pieces…I don’t use a system of any kind, just notes and scheduling and I try to keep home organized to I am not too overwhelmed 🙂
Melissa, if it’s any consolation, I scaled way back on blogging a few months ago and my numbers and engagement are exactly the same! Perhaps everybody else is overwhelmed too and has as little time to read blogs as we do to write them?
Great to see you this weekend!
I can relate! Take all the time you need so that you don’t feel like a mad woman when you sit and write. It’s supposed to be fun, remember? I’ve so been there!!! Let me know if I can help in any way and I’m totally looking forward to writing my update on #14in2014Goals!
Love that. You can do anything, but not everything. I can so relate to that as well. Trying to do too much sometimes but not enough time. Here’s to reaching the goals even if it means cutting back here and there.
I am so with you! I have not posted in over a week and have had to slow down on my reading. I am working on the “anything” end of this right now and have scaled back on the “everything” part. And like Allie said, this blogging stuff is supposed to be fun. Let’s keep it that way!
Trying hard. It was an ugly scene here recently. Attempting to get it (somewhat) together. Thanks for the support. It means a lot.
Diane: Thanks for the support it means a ton.
Muah! Thank you my friend. Your support means so much. I’m looking forward to seeing your recap.
Tamara, thanks for the information. It helps actually and perhaps you’re right with your thought process.
I just bought a detailed calendar and I hope it will get me together. Thanks Lynda for your words of support.
Brittany: Maybe you’re due for a break too? Please don’t have the breakdown that I did. It was super ugly. If you need a pep talk, reach out. I can be good at that. Thinking of you.
I just bought a detailed calendar and I’m hoping it will help. I’m trying to scale back from all things app related so I don’t look like I’m constantly on my phone (more than I already am). Thanks for the tips my friend.
